Stephens lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Kason Powell, who went 11 for 22 en route to 25 points. The contest was Powell's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah White, who scored 20 points.
With the victory, Emerson broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-3. As for Stephens, they dropped their record down to 1-3 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
Emerson and West Side Christian are set to duel on Tuesday. As for Stephens, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Christian Ministries Academy, where tip off is scheduled at 4:30 p.m. Christian Ministries Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Stephens surely won't give up without a fight.
