Softball Recap: Hamilton Heights Finds Home Field Redemption Against Western

There's no place like home for Hamilton Heights, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Western Panthers on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Huskies have posted since May 10, 2024.

Heather Crays made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off 12 hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Kamryn Rhoton was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played.

Hamilton Heights has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Western fell to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Hamilton Heights will challenge Sheridan at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Western, they will venture away from home to challenge Yorktown at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.
