Preview: Cheraw Braves vs. Chesterfield Golden Rams
The Cheraw Braves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chesterfield Golden Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cheraw is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Last Thursday, Cheraw didn't have too much trouble with Buford on the road as they won 25-7.
Cam Mcclendon was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Another reason for the win was Cheraw's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Crawford Poole and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Chesterfield took a serious blow against Central on Friday, falling 55-18.
Despite their defeat, Chesterfield saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aiden Short, who threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jaquavis Clark, who gained 148 total yards and two touchdowns.
Cheraw's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 4-5. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.33 points. As for Chesterfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Cheraw beat Chesterfield 54-42 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Will Cheraw repeat their success, or does Chesterfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
