Softball Recap: South Putnam's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

South Putnam had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-5 victory over the Sullivan Golden Arrows. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly three runs.

Taylor Boyce was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

In other batting news, Elliana Cox and Madison Carpenter did most of the damage at the plate: Cox went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Carpenter went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

South Putnam kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

South Putnam's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sullivan, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Putnam will venture away from home to face off against North Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles are facing the Thunderbirds at the right time seeing as the Thunderbirds are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Sullivan, they are taking a road trip to challenge Northview at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
