Baseball Recap: Master's Academy Snags 12th Victory in Last 15 Games

Master's Academy had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Cornerstone Charter Academy on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Ducks 10-2. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Master's Academy got a great performance from Noah Martinez as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Martinez a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Julian Mercado was excellent, going 1-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Trey Seluk, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Master's Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cornerstone Charter Academy only posted a batting average of .160.

Master's Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, their loss was their ninth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Master's Academy will face off against Geneva at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 4, the Knights 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Cornerstone Charter Academy, they will take on Four Corners at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
