Basketball Game Preview: Brazos Cougars vs. Van Vleck Leopards

Brazos is 1-9 against Van Vleck since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Brazos Cougars will take on the Van Vleck Leopards at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Friday, Brazos was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-45 to Boling.

Meanwhile, Van Vleck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Hitchcock and fell 90-46. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1440th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 263rd).

Van Vleck's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Brazos, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

Brazos didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Van Vleck when the teams last played back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 48-44 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Van Vleck's Corey Austin, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Brazos still be able to contain Austin? There's only one way to find out.
