Football Recap: Lemon Bay Manta Rays vs. Lakewood Ranch Mustangs
Lemon Bay had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They lost 42-18 to the Lakewood Ranch Mustangs. The Manta Rays were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Lemon Bay lost, don't look at Adam Schwartz. Despite the final result, he rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Cullen McRae II had a dynamite game for Lakewood Ranch, rushing for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries. McRae II got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible60 yards. Liam Fernandez was in the mix too, providing Lakewood Ranch with two touchdowns touchdowns.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lemon Bay will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hardee at 7:30 p.m. on September 6th. As for Lakewood Ranch, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Seminole at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
