Baseball Game Preview: Merrill Vandals vs. Ithaca Yellowjackets

The Merrill Vandals will take on the Ithaca Yellowjackets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ithaca took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Merrill, who comes in off a win.

Merrill's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Montabella 8-0. The Vandals haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Meanwhile, Ithaca was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of Nouvel Catholic Central.

Ryley White was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run.

Merrill now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ithaca, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.

Merrill came out on top in a nail-biter against Ithaca in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Vandals repeat their success, or do the Yellowjackets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
