Softball Recap: Garrard County Takes a Loss

If Garrard County was riding high fresh off their 16-6 takedown of Paul Laurence Dunbar on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Lions fell 5-2 to the Boyle County Rebels on Thursday. The Golden Lions have struggled against the Rebels recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Garrard County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Hounshell, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Zoe Jordon was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Garrard County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Boyle County, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-9 record.

Garrard County and Boyle County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Golden Lions (ranked 127th) will meet Marion County (ranked 44th) at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Boyle County will face off against Madison Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank disadvantage (108 vs. 19).
