Softball Recap: Eastern Wayne Finds Home Field Redemption Against Princeton

There's no place like home for Eastern Wayne, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top against the Princeton Bulldogs on Tuesday by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The Warriors have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Mallory Reed made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 30 over 12 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Reed wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Arianna Harvey, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-6.

Eastern Wayne's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Princeton, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Eastern Wayne will head out to square off against Spring Creek at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Princeton, they will welcome Clinton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Clinton has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.5 runs per game on average), something Princeton will no doubt try to take advantage of.
