Volleyball Recap: Carly Fortney and Lucy King Secure Win for Old Fort

Old Fort won the last time they faced Hopewell-Loudon and things went their way on Thursday too. The Stockaders came out on top against the Chieftains by a score of 3-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Stockaders.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-15, 20-25, 25-9.

Leading Old Fort to victory were Lucy King and Carly Fortney. King had nine digs and three aces, while Fortney had 12 digs and one assist. That's the most aces King has posted since back in September of 2024.

They weren't the only good server: Old Fort was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Despite the loss, Hopewell-Loudon still got an impressive performance from Maddie Holcomb, who had 43 digs and three assists. Holcomb has been hot, having posted 15 or more digs the last six times she's played.

Old Fort now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Old Fort has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Van Buren on the 23rd. As for Hopewell-Loudon, they will face off against Liberty-Benton at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
