Central Valley suffers 15th straight loss at home

Recap: Central Valley Falcons vs. Mt. Shasta Bears

This season hasn't been kind to the Central Valley Falcons, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. Their tough 67-42 loss to Mt. Shasta on Monday might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Central Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1290th, while Mt. Shasta is ranked 278th).

Loss or not, Central Valley got some senior leadership from Vincent Vanpal who scored 20 points and Hunter Sanderson who scored 12 points. Vanpal scored a full 47.6% of Central Valley's points, the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Central Valley were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Central Valley's defeat was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-6. As for Mt. Shasta, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season.

Central Valley will square off against Del Norte at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mt. Shasta, they will head out on the road to face off against Argonaut at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
