Basketball Recap: Western Boone Comes Up Short

Western Boone lost against Delphi Community back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Western Boone Stars were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 75-74 to the Delphi Community Oracles. The Stars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Stars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Hawkins, who went 6-for-14 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The contest was Hawkins' fourth in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Marcus Fortner, who went 6-for-10 en route to 14 points.

Western Boone's defeat dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Delphi Community, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-7.

Coming up, Western Boone will host Sheridan at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sheridan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last ten games. As for Delphi Community, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-48 win against Clinton Central on the 15th.
