Softball Recap: Lafayette's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Lafayette dropped their record down to 22-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell 10-6 to the New Hope Trojans. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Commodores, who until this game were averaging 2.57 runs allowed.

Braleigh Crowe made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for New Hope, they pushed their record up to 18-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games.

On New Hope's side, Kaselyn Harcrow was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off nine hits. Harcrow was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Tatum McBride was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Jeoreia Henry was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

Lafayette will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake Cormorant at 6:30 p.m. on the 28th. New Hope does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
