Basketball Game Preview: Foard Tigers vs. Newton-Conover Red Devils

The Foard Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the Newton-Conover Red Devils at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Foard will be strutting in after a victory while Newton-Conover will be coming in after a loss.

On Friday, Foard humbled Bunker Hill with a 56-28 victory. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Newton-Conover was not able to break out of their rough patch back in January as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Hickory, falling 47-23. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Red Tornadoes are ranked 84th).

Foard will have to keep a close watch on Harmony Sims and Jenna Sain, a pair of players who had a big impact on Newton-Conover's prior game. Sims almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds, while Sain posted eight points along with ten boards and three steals. Sain is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last eight games she's played.

Foard's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Newton-Conover, their loss dropped their record down to 3-15.

Foard strolled past Newton-Conover in their previous meeting back in January by a score of 56-40. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
