Basketball Preview: West Muskingum Tornadoes vs. Coshocton Redskins

The West Muskingum Tornadoes will head out on the road to challenge the Coshocton Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Muskingum is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.

West Muskingum struggled with assists on Friday (the Panthers had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The matchup between West Muskingum and the Panthers wasn't particularly close, with the Tornadoes falling 52-34. While losing is never fun, West Muskingum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while the Panthers are ranked 160th).

West Muskingum's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Cade Porter, who scored eight points along with two steals, and Carter Smith who scored nine points along with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Coshocton entered their tilt with the Ceramics with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Coshocton strolled past the Ceramics with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 68-54.

Colton Conkle was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten assists. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lonsberry, who scored 12 points along with two steals.

West Muskingum has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Coshocton, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.

West Muskingum came up short against the Redskins when the teams last played back in January, falling 55-50. Can West Muskingum avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
