The Castleford Wolves were the 51-49 winner over the Carey Panthers when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Castleford fell to Carey 49-44.

Preston Wood was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 18 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists for Carey. That makes it three consecutive games in which Wood has scored at least a third of Carey's points. Another player making a difference was Owen Parke, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Castleford's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Carey, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Castleford will take on Murtaugh at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Murtaugh is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Carey, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Wendell at 7:30 p.m. on January 27th. Wendell will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
