Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Morristown, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against Oldenburg Academy on Friday as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The Yellow Jackets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by ten runs or more this season.
Abby Hawk was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Hawk was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Nevaeh Cox, who fired off two home runs, seven RBI, and two stolen bases while going 3-for-3. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mykynzy Smith, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double.
Morristown always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Morristown's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Edinburgh, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.
Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Edinburgh has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .462. However, it's not like Morristown struggles in that department as they've averaged .476. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
