Baseball Recap: Otis Wins Going Away Against Kiowa

Otis won the last time they faced Kiowa and things went their way on Tuesday too. Otis blew past Kiowa 21-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

Gavin Price made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Otis got a massive performance out of Tayte Smith, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-3. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. JJ Ward was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Otis kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Otis' record is now 2-0. As for Kiowa, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Otis didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-5 win against Caliche on the 21st. As for Kiowa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 22-1 victory against Manzanola on the 22nd.
