Basketball Recap: West Plains Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

West Plains won the last time they faced Branson and things went their way on Thursday too. The West Plains Zizzers had just enough and edged the Branson Pirates out 53-50. Given the Zizzers' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Pirates are ranked 115th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

West Plains got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shaylee Peterson out in front who dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Peterson continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Zoe Shrubb was another key player, putting up 16 points.

West Plains has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Branson, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

West Plains has already played their next matchup, a 66-53 victory against Hickman on the 15th. As for Branson, they will challenge Bolivar at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
