Softball Recap: Roosevelt Has No Trouble Against Edmonds-Woodway

It's playoff time, and Roosevelt had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors with a sharp 14-6 victory on Thursday. The Roughriders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

Perrie Ausk was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Samantha Wright, who went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Pia Regala was another key player, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double.

Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .378. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Roosevelt has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Edmonds-Woodway, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-6.

Roosevelt didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Stanwood on the 23rd. Edmonds-Woodway does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
