Volleyball Game Preview: RHAM Raptors vs. Edwin O. Smith Panthers

RHAM is a perfect 10-0 against Edwin O. Smith since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Raptors will look to defend their home court against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

RHAM is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Windsor, who was ranked 24th at the time (RHAM was ranked fourth). The Raptors blew past the Warriors 3-0 on Thursday. The Raptors not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 8th (when they won 3-0).

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: RHAM took every set by at least ten points. The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-12, 25-15.

Sami DeGray was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 16 digs and three assists. Those three assists gave her a new career-high. Victoria Ciesla also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

RHAM was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Windsor only served two.

Meanwhile, Edwin O. Smith hadn't done well against South Windsor recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Panthers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Bobcats.

Edwin O. Smith now has a winning record of 2-1. As for RHAM, they pushed their record up to 15-3-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.

RHAM took their victory against Edwin O. Smith in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Raptors have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
