Softball Game Preview: Milwaukee Reagan Huskies vs. Milwaukee King Generals

Milwaukee Reagan is a perfect 10-0 against Milwaukee King since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Huskies will venture away from home to square off against the Generals at 5:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Milwaukee Reagan's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Milwaukee Bay View with a sharp 16-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Huskies, who have now won three contests by 16 runs or more so far this season.

Tessa Balestrieri-Michalski made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. That run marked the first that she scored this season.

In other batting news, Bri Byrd was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Alana Gonzalez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1.

Milwaukee Reagan hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Milwaukee King got the win against Augustine Prep on Tuesday by a conclusive 15-0.

Milwaukee Reagan is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Milwaukee King, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went Milwaukee Reagan's way against Milwaukee King in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Milwaukee Reagan made off with an 18-3 victory. Do the Huskies have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Generals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
