Softball Recap: Corsicana Has No Trouble Against Kaufman

Corsicana lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Kaufman, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's game. The Corsicana Tigers blew past the Kaufman Lions 17-2 on Wednesday. That looming 17-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

Corsicana's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-8-1. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Kaufman, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8-2 record this season.

Corsicana and Kaufman could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Corsicana will challenge Midlothian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday down 511 places (662 vs. 151). Corsicana has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Similarly, Kaufman (ranked 541st) will meet Crandall (ranked 189th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
