It's playoff time, and Clay City had no trouble coming through when it counted. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bloomfield Cardinals on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eels have posted since April 12, 2024.

Trey Dayhoff was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Dayhoff was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Dayhoff wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zain Keller, who went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

Clay City has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Bloomfield, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-15.

As of now, neither Clay City nor the Cardinals have any future games scheduled.
