Baseball Recap: Vela Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rowe, Vela was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest Javelinas an 11-0 shutout. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Sabercats considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Adrian Andrade looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Vela got a big performance out of Alejandro Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Rolando Solis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.

Vela's win bumped their record up to 12-17-1. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they are on a 16-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
