Clinton Central is 8-2 against Faith Christian since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Clinton Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Clinton Central turned things around against Taylor on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 13-0 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their one-run performance the match before.
Nuriah Harvey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Harvey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clinton Central got a massive performance out of Carly Davison, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Makalyn Bray, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Clinton Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. The last time their OBP was this high was back in May of 2024.
Meanwhile, Faith Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against South Newton, falling 11-2.
Keely Frier was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Julia Smart also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Clinton Central's record is now 4-5. As for Faith Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Clinton Central came out on top in a nail-biter against Faith Christian in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
