Basketball Game Preview: Port Aransas Marlins vs. Hearne Eagles

The Port Aransas Marlins will square off against the Hearne Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Port Aransas sitting on three straight victories and Hearne on four.

Port Aransas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They snuck past Thorndale with a 48-44 win.

Meanwhile, Hearne humbled Santa Maria with a 75-47 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 21 points or more this season.

Hearne's win came from a few key players Port Aransas will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kellen Bowser, who went 7-for-11 en route to 17 points in addition to six boards and five assists. Another player making a difference was Zayden Mercer, who posted ten points along with seven rebounds and seven steals.

Port Aransas pushed their record up to 29-9 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34.5 points. As for Hearne, their win bumped their record up to 27-5.

Things could have been worse for Port Aransas, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 55-37 loss to Hearne when the teams last played back in March of 2019. Can Port Aransas avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
