Softball Game Preview: Dayton Bulldogs vs. Union Catholic Vikings

The Dayton Bulldogs will challenge the Union Catholic Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Dayton took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Westfield as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Union Catholic and Oak Knoll, and Union Catholic kept the tradition alive. The Vikings put the hurt on the Royals with a sharp 21-5 victory on Saturday.

Dayton's win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Union Catholic, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Everything went Dayton's way against Union Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Dayton made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
