Softball Recap: Tri-West Hendricks' Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Tri-West Hendricks fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Speedway on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 7-3 to the Sparkplugs. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Sparkplugs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Adelyn Lengerich was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.

In other pitching news, Tri-West Hendricks got a good showing from Natalie Tharp, who tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.

Back at the plate, Peyton Norman and Sophie White stepped up to the plate in a big way. Norman scored two runs while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances, while White went 3-for-6 with two stolen bases and one RBI. Savannah Neal was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Tri-West Hendricks' defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2. As for Speedway, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tri-West Hendricks will challenge Triton Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Speedway, they will take on North Putnam at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
