Soccer Game Preview: Aiken vs. Gilbert

The Aiken Fighting Green Hornets will face off against the Gilbert Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Aiken has now lost eight straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 20.

Aiken had taken Midland Valley down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Mustangs who were credited with the victory. Midland Valley got it done in the shootout by posting two goals to Aiken's one.

Erick Sambrano and Joaquin Beltran scored both of the Fighting Green Hornets' goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

On Monday, Gilbert earned a 7-5 win over Airport. Gilbert haven't had any issues with Airport recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aiken's loss dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Gilbert, their win bumped their record up to 7-10-2.

Everything went Aiken's way against Gilbert in their previous matchup back in March, as Aiken made off with a 3-0 victory. Do the Fighting Green Hornets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
