Basketball Recap: Ravenna Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Ravenna saw some tournament action on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 42-26 victory over the Montabella Mustangs. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 254th, while the Mustangs are ranked 549th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ravenna is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.8 points on average over those games. Montabella is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Looking ahead, Ravenna will square off against Morley Stanwood at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montabella does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
