Volleyball Recap: Somerset Takes a Loss

Somerset was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pleasanton Eagles. The Bulldogs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Somerset started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-8.

Despite the loss, Somerset saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Camila Mendez had 13 digs and two aces. Mendez has been hot recently, having posted 12 or more digs the last three times she's played.

Somerset's defeat dropped their record down to 11-15. As for Pleasanton, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 11-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Somerset will head out to take on Devine at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Warhorses / Arabians will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pleasanton, they are taking a road trip to challenge Pearsall at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
