Softball Recap: Big Walnut Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Big Walnut can now relate to. They came up short against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets on Friday, falling 9-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Golden Eagles of the 10-9 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2018.

Big Walnut saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Clever, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Clever is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Big Walnut moved to 15-13 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mt. Vernon, they pushed their record up to 24-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home.

Big Walnut does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Vernon, they will take on Watkins Memorial on Wednesday. The Warriors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight.
