Baseball Recap: Omaha South Has No Trouble Against Mount Michael Benedictine

The Omaha South Packers made easy work of the Mount Michael Benedictine Knights on Friday and carried off a 12-1 win. Considering the Packers have won five matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Lou Hodoly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over 6.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-5. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other batting news, Zane Carroll was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Kayne Rangel, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Omaha South and bumps their season record up to 9-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Mount Michael Benedictine, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Omaha South will take on Millard South at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Packers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
