Holmes had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 49.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They strolled past the Gates County Red Barons with points to spare, taking the game 49-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Aces also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2019.

Holmes' defense made their presence known, laying out Christopher Lee four times. Amari Bond was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.

When it comes to explaining why Gates County lost, don't look at Robert Baker. Despite the final result, he rushed for 111 yards and one score on only 15 carries.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4. As for Gates County, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

Holmes has already played their next game, a 56-30 victory against Bertie on the 17th. As for Gates County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 36-22 win against Manteo on the 17th.
