Football Game Preview: Quincy Trojans vs. Maxwell Panthers

Quincy hasn't had much luck against Maxwell recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Trojans will welcome the Panthers at 7:30 p.m. Quincy has given up an average of 34.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Quincy is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Biggs on Friday. The Trojans were dealt a 36-6 loss at the hands of the Wolverines.

Meanwhile, Maxwell strolled past Biggs with points to spare last Friday, taking the game 49-34. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Levi Velasquez and Skyler Long. Velasquez had a great game and threw for 223 yards and five touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. Meanwhile, Long was balling out in the loss, rushing for 105 yards and five scores, while also throwing for 140 yards on nine of 18 attempts.

Maxwell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Luke Pearson and Landon Barrett.

Maxwell now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Quincy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Quincy might still be hurting after the 43-23 defeat they got from Maxwell in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Trojans, Noel Velazquez (who rushed for 151 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries, and also threw for 247 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 84.2% of his passes) won't be suiting up this time.
