Softball Recap: Greenfield Takes a Loss

If Greenfield was feeling good fresh off their 25-0 takedown of Marina on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins came up short against the Carmel Padres on Tuesday, falling 21-10. The loss continues a trend for the Bruins in their meetings with the Padres: they've now lost five in a row.

Greenfield got a big performance out of Isabella Figuora, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Natalie Soto was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Greenfield's defeat dropped their record down to 9-14. As for Carmel, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Greenfield will head out to take on Gonzales at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Carmel, they will venture away from home to square off against Stevenson at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.25 runs per game on average), something the Padres will no doubt try to take advantage of.
