Basketball Recap: Manteo Falls Despite Big Games from Mya Kelly and Symaria Howard

Manteo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 13th straight loss. They received a blow as they fell 37-21 to the Holmes Aces. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aces this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-20 back in December of 2024.

Manteo's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Symaria Howard, who posted 13 points, and Mya Kelly, who put up no points along with 18 rebounds, six assists, and four steals. Emma Horne also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Chloe Chappell was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-16 on her way to 19 points and seven boards for Holmes. The game was Chappell's tenth in a row with at least 16 points. Brockasia Faircloth was another key player, putting up six points and five steals.

Manteo's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Holmes, their win bumped their record up to 6-11.

Manteo didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-14 defeat against Northeastern on the 6th. As for Holmes, they have also already played their next contest, a 47-19 loss against First Flight on the 7th.
