Baseball Recap: Gretna East Extends Winning Streak to Two

Gretna East and Norris pushed the score to 12-7 the last time they played Norris, but on Monday defenses reigned supreme. The Griffins never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 2-0 victory. For the Griffins, this counts as revenge for the 12-7 win the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Not much got past Trevor Cox, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Norris off the board. Cox has become a key player for Gretna East: the team is undefeated when he allows at most three hits, but 6-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Nolan Green was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Gretna East and bumps their season record up to 9-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 4 runs in those games. As for Norris, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gretna East will face off against Skutt Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
