Softball Recap: Norton Drops Season-High Score on Holliston

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norton). They were the clear victors by a 23-3 margin over the Holliston Panthers on Wednesday. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Liana Danubio made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Avery Tinkham and CeeCee Goodwin did most of the damage at the plate: Tinkham went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Goodwin got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Goodwin a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Rodriguez, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Norton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive matches.

Norton pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for Holliston, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.
