Softball Recap: Milford Spartans vs. Sanborn Regional Indians

Milford extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 7-10 in the process. They lost 31-4 to the Sanborn Regional Indians. The Spartans lost against the Indians in their previous head to head back in May of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 6-0 score last time.

Milford saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Molly Miles, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

As for Sanborn Regional, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-5. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Sanborn Regional's side, Phoebe Hood made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Hood has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 5-for-6 with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hannah Lambert, who fired off two home runs, eight RBI, and four runs while getting on base in all six of her plate appearances.
