If Alonso wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Berkeley Prep, they should've done a better job of containing Luby Jones Jr. The Buccaneers came out on top against the Ravens by a score of 31-21 on Friday with plenty of help from Jones Jr, who rushed for 202 yards and two TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. He is becoming a predictor of Berkeley Prep's success: when he posts at least 80 rushing yards the team is undefeated (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
Berkeley Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Matty Zahn.
Alonso's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naylan Albritton Jr., who rushed for 109 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. Another player making a difference was Michael Pyne, who rushed for 51 yards and a pair of scores.
The win got Berkeley Prep back to even at 4-4. As for Alonso, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
