The Smithfield Packers are taking a road trip to take on the Southampton Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Smithfield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Things were looking good for Smithfield after they put the first runs on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Tabb by a score of 2-1. The contest marked the Packers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Southampton won against Windsor last Thursday with ten runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Indians beat Surry County by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 10-1. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by nine runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Kingston Brooks, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaquar White, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Southampton and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Smithfield, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 4-2.

Everything went Smithfield's way against Southampton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Smithfield made off with an 11-5 victory. Do the Packers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
