Basketball Recap: Ford Gilliam's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Reed over Galena

Reed fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Galena on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Galena Grizzlies by a score of 59-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since February 16, 2024.

Reed lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ford Gilliam, who posted 12 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gabriel Smith, who went 7-for-14 en route to 16 points.

Gavin Talonen was the offensive standout of the game as he went 7-for-10 to rack up 15 points. Nathan Bronander was another key player, putting up six points and seven rebounds.

Reed has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matchups, which has put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Galena, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-14.

Reed has already played their next contest, a 67-38 loss against Spanish Springs on the 7th. As for Galena, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 62-52 defeat against Damonte Ranch on the 7th.
