Football Recap: Petaluma Trojans vs. Casa Grande Gauchos

After losing to Casa Grande the last time they met, Petaluma decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Trojans strolled past the Gauchos with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 38-21. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Brody Stevens and Aidan Wirtz. Stevens rushed for 165 yards and one TD while picking up 10.3 yards per carry while Wirtz rushed for 161 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries. Those 165 rushing yards gave Stevens a new career-high.

Petaluma was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 460 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 240 rushing yards in four consecutive games.

Casa Grande's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Cerda, who threw for 212 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 95 yards on only nine carries. Another rusher making a difference was Ronan Curley, who gained 154 total yards and two touchdowns.
