Football Recap: Everett Takes a Loss

Everett dropped to 6-3 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Meyersdale Red Raiders and fell 35-2. The contest marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

As for Meyersdale, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.4 points on average over those games.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Spencer Whitfield and Caleb Sines. Whitfield gained 141 total yards and a touchdown while Sines rushed for 70 yards and one touchdown on only seven carries. Whitfield also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making five total tackles (2.5 for loss) and defending one pass.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Everett will head out to square off against Claysburg-Kimmel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Meyersdale, they will venture away from home to challenge Mount Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Raiders' defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 34.6 points per game this season.
