Reagan is a perfect 5-0 against Clark since October of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Rattlers will welcome the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Friday, Reagan was able to grind out a solid win over Churchill, taking the game 35-25. Given the Rattlers' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 198th, while the Chargers are ranked 570th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edwin Bridges had a dynamite game, rushing for 229 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Reagan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 326 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 200 rushing yards in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Clark entered their matchup against SA Roosevelt on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Cougars took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rough Riders.
Reagan will need to focus on slowing down Nathan McManus, one of several Clark players who made an impact when they last played. He rushed for 88 yards and one TD.
Clark didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of J.D. Brightwell and Mark Mesa. Brett Garza was another major factor on D, making 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Reagan is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.2 points over those games. As for Clark, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Reagan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 256.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Clark struggles in that department as they've been averaging 171.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Reagan against Clark in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 49-12 win. In that game, the Rattlers amassed a halftime lead of 21-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
