Softball Recap: St. Joseph Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

St. Joseph won against Ludlowe last Wednesday with four runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Cadets' pitcher stepped up to hand the Newtown Nighthawks a 4-0 shutout. The win was just business as usual for the Cadets, who after three games remain undefeated this season.

The result came thanks to Katie Dzialo's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gina Coppola, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of MacKenzie Caouette, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

St. Joseph pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, St. Joseph will face off against St. Anthony's at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cadets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Friars have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Newtown, they will welcome Pomperaug at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
