Recap: Gaylord Blue Devils vs. Marquette Redmen
The Gaylord Blue Devils lost against the Marquette Redmen back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Gaylord took a 66-49 bruising from Marquette. Gaylord has struggled against Marquette recently, as their contest on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Gaylord still got an impressive performance from Luke Gelow, who scored 28 points along with seven rebounds. That was a full 57.1% of Gaylord's points, marking the 14th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Collin Piehl was another key contributor, scoring four points along with three steals.
Gaylord has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season. As for Marquette, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-3.
Gaylord will look to defend their home court on Friday against Alpena at 7:00 p.m. As for Marquette, they will head out on the road to square off against Westwood at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
